CRESSY
Sean Cressy B.Sc. Physiotherapy (Wits)
Physiotherapy has always felt like the perfect intersection of my two greatest passions — the medical sciences and my lifelong love of sport.
After earning my B.Sc. in Physiotherapy from Wits University in 2016, I completed my community service year at South Rand Hospital, a specialised neurological rehabilitation facility. This invaluable experience gave me deep insight into the assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation of complex and chronic conditions.
From there, I transitioned into private practice in Illovo, Johannesburg, where I honed my skills working with a diverse range of patients, including many recreational and professional athletes. This environment helped shape my confidence and clinical approach.
Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of working with a wide variety of elite sportspeople and organisations, including:
-
Pirates and Wanderers Rugby Clubs
-
Gauteng Touch Rugby Association
-
National and international-level athletes across boxing, track & field, MMA, and dance
-
Ultra-marathon runners, triathletes and cyclists
-
South African Ice Hockey Federation
-
The Springboks
Currently, I serve as the Lead Physiotherapist for the Junior Teams at the Lions Rugby Union, manage inpatient orthopaedic rehabilitation at Netcare Garden City Hospital, and run my outpatient practice in Melrose Arch.
With a background that bridges neurological, orthopaedic, and sports rehabilitation, I’m confident in helping people from all walks of life return to work, school, gym, or sport, and more importantly, stay there.
I believe strongly in building solid rehabilitation foundations. By addressing the root cause of your issue and correcting underlying imbalances, we don’t just treat your symptoms, we help you move forward, stronger and more resilient than before.
